When it comes to Techno royalty it doesn’t get much better than electronic music pioneer Cristian Varela.

In his epic 30 year career Cristian has taken his musical message to every corner of the world from his humble beginnings in Madrid, Spain. Collecting more than 40 awards in his tenure Varela has not only released unforgettable original work and remixes on labels such as Carl Cox´s Intec imprint and his very own Pornographic Recordings where he works with artists such as The Advent, Ken Ishii, Gary Beck, Marco Bailey, UMEK and many more.

Cristian Varela´s fame goes far beyond his decades of standout vinyl Techno sets. CV is also a very successful composer scoring soundtracks for film, theater and television. Cristian has even recorded a symphonic album in the Beatles legendary Abbey Road Studios.

His 25th anniversary in music was celebrated in the form of a documentary from world renowned filmmakers 11:11. This film “Cristian Varela: Music, Passion & Respect” is a career-spanning account of one of electronic music’s most influential and longest standing figureheads. The documentary is an in-depth chronological account of Cristian’s esteemed career, as told by a wide range of the scene’s most prominent artists, producers, promoters and journalists who consider Cristian Varela as a Techno legend such as Carl Cox, Chris Liebing and Joseph Capriati. This eye-opening 50 minute film simultaneously documents the international explosion of electronic music over the course of the past three decades and provides a rare insight into the international evolution of Techno and Cristian Varela´s impact since the early 1990s.
